Did you really read the 2.4.3 Patch Notes?

Joana Leveling Guide

I read every line and I found some interesting stuff in there that you might have missed. I’m not going to just paste them. You can find them here or here. Instead, I’m only going to extract the neat stuff and discuss a bit about it.

Let’s see what we have.

General
Haris Pilton

Haris Pilton has launched a new line of bags and jewelry. Check her out in the World’s End Tavern!

Everyone’s favorite NPC came back with some new and cool items, like the 22-slot bag “Gigantique” Bag, 1 pair of goggles and 3 rings! Some say that the enourmous prices on these are to reduce inflation in the WoW economy.

One thing is for certain: really nice items to pimp up your bank char or to enrich your RP activity.

Mounts at 30?! Yes, it’s true: Apprentice Riding and mounts are now available at level 30. Training costs 35 gold.

HELLOKITTY! Say woot? Finnaly! It was rather stupid to run all over the place until level 40 and I have to admit it really slowed my leveling time. And buged the hell out of me also, because Druids got Travel Form, Shamans got Ghost Wolf and Hunters got Aspect of the Cheetah way before 40. BUT NOW, it’s all over! Still, it costs 35 gold but that shouldn’t be a big problem (I had over 100 gold on my Priest at level 30 from Mining). Also, for Paladins and Warlocks it’s still (almost) free so in your face!

Warning: long post ahead (aka Wall of Text) so if you have time, you can read more after the jump

Nether Ray Fry

Good news for the non-combat pet collectors. Not only will the old flying pets behave correctly (now they will actually fly!), but another pet is also added to the game. And let’s face it: who wouldn’t want a mini Nether Ray?

Paladin

Summon Warhorse is now available at level 30.

Muhaha!

Rogue

Cheat Death: This talent has been rebalanced significantly. Killing blows are no longer 100% absorbed. If the Rogue is below 10% health, the killing blow is still completely absorbed; if the Rogue is over 10% health, enough damage will be absorbed to reduce the Rogue’s health down to 10%. For the following 3 seconds, damage is not always reduced by 90%; it is now reduced by a maximum of 90%, depending on how much resilience the Rogue has. The damage reduction will be four times the damage reduction resilience causes against critical strikes.

Kind of an interesting move to change this talent. Some say it’s a nerf for PvE Rogues going Arena, some are glad to see it implemented. I really don’t know what to make of it. Apparently, you’ll need 492 Resilience to keep the old 90% damage reduction, but take this information with a very big pinch of salt as I’m not sure it’s accurate (so correct me if I’m wrong).

Warlock
Felsteed

Probably the biggest change in this patch in my opinion. You can look at this in two ways: as a Warlock nerf (seeing now only a minimim of 2 Warlocks are needed in a 25-man raid) or as a Mage/Shadow Priest buff (replacing the extra Warlock). Also, the Felsteed as available at level 30 so gg.

Mining

Green quality gems can be found in mining nodes again. The drop rate of blue gems from mining nodes remains unchanged.

Cheers for this, I was really getting low on my green gems supplies.

Tailoring
Haliscan Set

Pretty important changes here also with a potential for revenue from the Herbalism Bag or even crafting the Haliscan “set”. And whoohoo! finnaly a replacement for the Tuxedo set. Our banks will look even better than our mains I tell you. Combine it with Haliscan Brimmed Hat and whoop! sexy new bank. Although I really don’t know who still uses Mooncloth (I tried farming the regents once to level my Tailoring - VERY low drop rate), I guess it’s a good thing that the cooldown is now lifted.

Magister’s Terrace
Magister's Terrace

This is a nerf that wasn’t needed. Current MgT in heroic mode is not that hard. Sure, it requires a bit more gear and some skill, but it can be done fairly easy. I remember back in the old days when I considered Shattered Halls Heroic to be impossible. Or back when completing Black Morass on Normal was an achievement for my guild. Now I can do both with my eyes closed. Why? Because I geared myself and learned how to be a better player in the process.

User Interface

  • The help interface has been simplified dramatically. Players will no longer be required to select a category when opening a GM ticket. In addition, players can use the “Talk to a GM” button to fill out a ticket that requires a GM response or the “Report Issue” button to fill out a ticket that does not require a GM response.
  • Target buff/debuff timers that appear when you cast a spell are now more visible.
  • Time Management features have been implemented! These features include an alarm clock, stopwatch, and viewing your computer’s local time.
  • The new stopwatch feature can be accessed via the /stopwatch, /sw, or /timer slash commands. Inputting a time into the slash command will make the stopwatch count down. For example, /stopwatch 1:0:0 will make the stopwatch count down from an hour, /stopwatch 1:30 will make it count down from 1 minute, 30 seconds, and /stopwatch 30 will make it count down from 30 seconds.
  • Added the following macro commands: /targetenemyplayer, /targetfriendplayer.
  • Added key bindings for tab targeting players.
  • Ctrl-Tab and other target nearest friend functions will no longer target you.
  • Targeting using /target will prefer live targets over dead ones.
  • You can no longer click the minimap to cast ground targeted spells.
  • Vendor items now show their Duration in Inventory.

Hello! Some very nice improvements right there. First, I’ve always found that interacting with a GM can be a bit hard at first, so hopefully this feature will help in that matter. Also, some new and nifty macro commands will be added and I personally know at least 2 people with a fetish for macro programming. I’m sure their imagination is flying right now as to what potential are in those new slash commands. Time management finally being implemented is really cheering me up. I have a problem managing my time (time fly’s when you’re having fun) and I’m sure some of you have also. So far I’ve managed to screw over some meeting for Arena because of the time difference between the server and Romania so viewing the local computer time in game makes me happy.

Apparently there are also some undocumented changes, which you can see below or fully check them out on mmo-champion’s dedicated thread:

  • Construction has began in Stormwind for a Harbour. Probably it’s going to allow acces to Northrend;
  • You can now buy epic gems at the cost of Arena Points (800 points / gem);
  • Don Carlos in Gadgetzan gives you a quest to kill his past image in Old Hillsbrad and you get a nifty hat as reward. Apparently, in heroic mode he also drops the same hat but of blue quality, which has the ability to summon a Coyote Spirit as pet;

I’m pretty excited about the new patch. It will bring some new stuff and improve on the quality of the game play.

What are you looking forward to in the patch?
