Tanks, fear our newest enemy – the Voidwalker

I’m sure you all saw the Voidwalker tanking Illidan movie. If you haven’t, go check it. Now.

Fast forward to Sunday evening and to a ZA run. We we’re trying to do as many timed events as we could (last attempt a couple of months ago saw us make 3 chests) and I was the only tank. We we’re going very strong, killing the eagle boss within the first 5 minutes.

Bear boss was up and one of my guildies left his alt and logged on his Prot Warrior. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of time trying to summon him (apparently our Warlock couldn’t summon him inside the instance). It was finally decided that we should at least try one attempt for the chest and I should tank him on both phases and just hope for the best. I died after the second transition to Troll form and it seemed everything was lost.

But alas, the Warlock pulled a trick off his sleave and his Voidwalker tanked him for the rest of the fight. The boss was at around 80% when I died. The Voidwalker tanked the rest. He somehow didn’t lose aggro to the trigger-happy arcane and fire mages nor did he die after several transitions.  The Warlock kept spamming Health Funnel and the healers we’re quick enough to switch targets.

The Voidwalker had 13k HP and 14k armor. That’s less than me. But he lasted longer and wistood several transitions, including some Brutal Swipes.

I don’t know if this is intended or if it’s a bug. Apparently, the only bug there was that the Voidwalker was able to keep aggro, not that he lasted that long. Which, in my oppinion, is kinda cool. If I could compare this to anything, I would compare it to the Gorilla. Only for Warlocks.

But as many good things, this will probably get nerfed in the future. Understandable, since I don’t thing pets are intended to succesfully tank any raid boss encounter.
