The concept of Main tank

I’ll try and write a short and to the point post about Main tank­ing in a guild and Main tank­ing in a raid.

What/who is the Main tank of a guild?

  • a per­son avail­able and will­ing to help the guild any time and with any­thing (attune­ments, farm­ing hero­ics, etc.);
  • a per­son who attends all the raids a guild has;
  • it’s not nec­es­sary for the Main tank to be the best geared tank in the guild;

What/who is the Main tank of a raid?

  •  best geared tank avail­able for the raid;

So you see, being the Main tank­ing of the guild is much more impor­tant and brings much more honor than being the Main tank in a raid. Right now I’m sit­ting in the posi­tion of the raid MT. And I’m cool with that.

Some­thing I missed? Got some­thing to add? Please, I want to hear your opin­ions.

    Being the Main tank of the guild is far bet­ter because you receive free­bies from the mem­bers (potions, flasks, sharp­en­ing stones, etc).
    I was MT of the guild for 1 year, then off­tank and i can hon­estly say it was like hav­ing a sec­ond job. we raided monday->friday from 9pm to 2am. now i quit this job, i‘m just offtank/dps and i enjoy it more.
    You need to be avail­able and think that if you don‘t show up the raid may as well go to hell if you are the only well equipped MT in the guild.
